You’ve found the Mad About Mugs website - a blog, community, photo archive and limited reference guide for mugs all rolled into one. We also curate the popular Pyrex Love reference website that was the inspiration for this site.
Mug collecting is a passionate endeavor for a lot of people - we’ve always been interested in mugs and cups but probably have a much smaller collection than most serious collectors. In our search for glassware, we’ve come across many non-Pyrex mugs of all shapes and sizes that we didn’t get to feature on Pyrex Love. So we decided to create this site to give those mugs a chance in the spotlight as well.
We are going to try something different for Mad About Mugs - whereas Pyrex Love will eventually be quite a comprehensive site about vintage Pyrex, this site won’t attempt to list every single pattern and shape for every single mug maker. We’ll try to have some limited reference, but will focus more on daily mug finds that may not include in-depth analysis. We may also post about “newer”, everyday mugs as well as vintage collectibles.
Because we concurrently take pictures of mugs for Pyrex Love, we may be using some pictures we’ve already shot from that site in order to save time.
While you’re welcome to write in - please remember that we aren’t mug experts. We just collect them for fun, and your collection is probably a lot more impressive than ours!
You can also join or view the pictures on the Mad About Mugs Flickr group. If you have a question about a particular mug, you may want to post a picture of it there and ask for help.

You might also want to do some research on Ebay. There is quite a wealth of information to be gleaned just by checking completed auctions.
As with Pyrex Love, we don’t respond to questions about value. Oh, and here is the same spiel taken almost directly from our other site:

We WON’T sell or buy your mugs directly. We do sell some of our extras as well as glassware on Ebay occasionally under the name “pyrexlove”, and on Etsy as well.

We AREN’T mug experts who know the answers to every question!
Cool, we’d really appreciate that! The best thing to do is contact us about it, because everyone’s situation is different. However, we will always try to credit you on your photos if they are used on the site. Because there’s so many people writing in for this site (and on Pyrex Love) please be patient if we don’t get back to you right away.
