Corning - Pyrex, Corelle, Centura Mugs
About the Company/Brand:
Because we have the most knowledge about mugs from Corning, we're going to be updating this category page later on with more info. But we may also just point you to the mug category page on Pyrex Love as well instead of duplicating detailed info and the company's history, etc.
A couple of quick points about Pyrex mugs produced by Corning: If a mug is bottom-stamped with the word "Pyrex" it is made out of Pyrex. If it has the word "Pyrex" somewhere on the side (i.e. some of the advertising mugs), chances are very good it is made out of Pyrex (though not 100%). If the mug has the word "Corning" (but not "Pyrex") on the bottom it can be made out of Pyrex, Corning Ware or Centura. If it says "Corelle Livingware" on the bottom stamp, it can possibly be a Pyrex mug made to be compatible with a Corelle Livingware. I don't believe there are any instances of mugs from the company Corning that are not marked with any stamp whatsoever, but I could be wrong.
You may want to check out this discussion on the Corelle by Corning flickr group where much of this information is summarized.
We'll definitely be able to answer more questions in the future about Corning mugs, specifically Pyrex, so feel free to ask.
