McCoy is a very popular pottery maker that has a big collector following. Originally started by W. Nelson McCoy in Zanesville, Ohio in the mid 1800s, the pottery went through many stages of ownership, partnership and manufacturing differences. Some of the known names include Brown & McCoy Pottery Co, Brush-McCoy Pottery, J.W. McCoy Pottery Co., Nelson McCoy Pottery, Kildow Williams and McCoy Pottery Co. and Midland Pottery Co.

A good place to start if you don't have any books is the McCoy Pottery Collectors Society including information on different marks, the various pottery lines and the different eras of McCoy.
