Mikasa is a well-known maker of china, dinnerware and other tableware accessories. Originally founded in 1948 by Geoge Aratani as "American Commercial", the company mostly sold wholesale dinnerware imports from Japan and other countries to various American retailers from their base in California. The Mikasa name was introduced in 1957 and by the 1970s they had branched out to other products. Current headquarters are in Secaucus, NJ.
