Kimberly Fire King - Mad About Mugs

These Kimberly mugs are pretty common examples of Fire King mugs. They’ve got a pretty distinctive shape that you pretty much either love or hate. I happen to like them quite a bit, and the fact that other people may not makes me quite happy - because they’ll leave them for ME at the thrift!

The mugs are footed and have a very bumpy and pitted exterior shape - that makes them exceptionally easy to grasp when cleaning, but also allows extra grime and dirt to get in between the bumps in the texture. According to the Firekingmugs website the pattern was named after the Kimberly diamond mine in Africa and meant to resemble the rock ore.

These three are graduated colors of orange, blue and green. Kimberly mugs come in various other color combos, and also a white mug, opalescent color mug, Peach Lustre, dark amber and clear.

All of mine have the stamp above, which I believe dates from the 70s - I’m not 100% sure but I think they were also released as Anchor Hocking mugs without the Fire King designation.
