Taylor Smith and Taylor - Cathay - Mad About Mugs

OK, so I know that these are actually cups by Taylor, Smith and Taylor but without their saucers they sort of look like squat mugs. I really like the “atomic” looking green, blue and black designs - the pattern is called Cathay. The insides of these cups are a solid olive green in color. They aren’t actually marked as TST on the bottom. (I believe the saucers are marked. This is always an issue for mug and cup identification - when a saucer is marked but the cup isn’t, and you don’t have the saucer!) I actually suspected they were TST because I’ve noticed this style of handle on their cups before.

Glasbake Have A Nice Day - Mad About Mugs

So it may be a trite sentiment, but sometimes it’ll just cheer you up for no reason: “Have A Nice Day”. This is what is written on this Glasbake Mug. I sort of like that it doesn’t have the Smiley face though, instead they go with two flowers that look sort of like tulips. All the graphics are in blue - the letters for the “Have A Nice Day” are interesting because they aren’t filled in solid but with tiny dots to give it a light blue appearance. Marked as Glasbake “Heat Resistant” on the bottom.

Prince William Pottery - Mugs

PLEASE SEE NOTES AT BOTTOM.

I found these really interesting mugs the other day (I’ve listed them in the “other / unknown” category even though I have a guess about the maker). I originally picked them up because they have cool black-green abstract designs. One concentrates more on diamond and circle shapes and the other seems to be some sort of flowers. The “green” actually seems to be a halo surrounding the black glaze design - like it sort of spread when fired. I don’t know anything about the manufacturing of pottery so I don’t know if that’s how they got the effect.

Mad About Mugs - McCoy Canyon Mesa

I nearly missed this McCoy mug … I had picked it up once because it kind of looked interesting and then put it back after a quick glance at the bottom, thinking that it was a brand new mug. Then a few minutes later I went back because something about the bottom seemed familiar. It turns out it was a very light McCoy stamp on the bottom of this mug, which I believe is the Canyon Mesa style line dating from the 70s. It’s not a very valuable mug, but the first piece of McCoy that we’ve found so we’re happy with that for a dollar.

Mad About Mugs - Stacking Mugs Umbrellas

More wonderful stacking mugs to post about - these are in-mold marked as “Japan” on the bottom. They feature a colorful trio of pink, orange and yellow umbrellas along with flowers. I’ve seen several umbrella stacking mugs before in various colors and configurations.
