Pixel Flowers Japanese Stacking Mug - Mad About Mugs

This stacking mug has an interesting pattern which is sort of a “pixelated” depiction of flowers in green, brown and orange. Unfortunately mine had a chip which I didn’t discover until I came home with it.

Green Yellow Stripe Japanese Stacking Mug - Mad About Mugs

Yet another stacking mug from Japan - this shape is so fun to collect because they are not extremely common, but still attainable. And there’s no real collector pressure on them (yet) so you can sometimes find them for 10 to 50 cents.

This one has a plain design, an alternating green and yellow stripe and that’s pretty much it!

Peanuts 1976 Mug - Mad About Mugs

This is a great 1976 Christmas Mug featuring the Peanuts gang. All the main members are represented: Snoopy with candycanes, Lucy with presents (what else), Peppermint Patty with a “Joy” sign, Woodstock with a Wreath “thought-bubble”, and Linus and Charlie Brown with holiday packages.

This is a standard ceramic mug, on the bottom it says “Peanuts Characters Copr. 1950, 1952, 1958, 1965 1966 United Features Syndicate, Inc. Another Determined Production for Joy’s Inc.” I didn’t know what that meant about the actual manufacturer, so this is in the “other” category for now.

Dandelion Stackers - Mad About Mugs

More fun porcelain stacking mugs from Japan. These feature what looks like dandelion or some kind of puffball flower on stems alternating with single leaves. I had two types, one alternates pink and blue and the other alternates reddish-orange and yellow. There is a gold leaf trim going around the top.

Interesting, the handles on these look slightly different than the ones we usually see. They have a more pronounced indentation where the two-finger grip is. They also have a little swipe of goldleaf on the top of the handle (you can’t see it in the photo). They’re marked “Japan” in red, printed on the bottom of the mugs.

Checkerboard and Flowers

Another couple of mugs that are the Japanese stacking variety with the “two-finger” handles. These are actually mold marked on the bottom as “Japan” and what looks like “S.I” in a circle? I forgot to take a picture of it. The pattern is a dark brown and yellow checkerboard pattern with white flowers on top of it. I wish I knew what company made these, or if it was several companies who all used the same design. They do seem to be fairly common - I’ve no idea on when it was producecd as well.
